Birthplace? Where did you grow up?

I was born in Gadsden, AL, and grew up in Sand Rock, AL. Sand Rock is a tiny little town in Northeast Alabama with one stop sign!

How did you become a Christian?

I became a Christian at the age of 16. As a child, I had a great knowledge of the Bible and tried tirelessly to do my best for Jesus; however, I found that the things I knew I should do, I couldn’t do, and the things I didn’t want to do, I often did. It was much like the apostle Paul describes in Romans 7. As I struggled to be a person Jesus would like, I became angry, destructive, and even more rebellious. Fortunately, on Palm Sunday in 2001 a pastor shared a basic sermon on the Gospel. That morning God called me to give up on being good enough for Jesus and to give all of myself to Him. I became a Christian that morning and told no one for several months! I was later baptized, told my church, and felt the joy of being obedient to Jesus.

What do you do for free time?

I like to do carpentry work, and most interestingly, building farm tables and rustic things. I also enjoy rock climbing.

What’s your favorite movie?

My favorite movie is Inception. I like movies that cause the audience to question their ethics and worldview.

What’s the craziest job you’ve ever had?

The summer of my senior year one of my teacher’s chicken farms was destroyed by a tornado, but the chickens survived. He paid my friends and I minimum wage to find and exterminate 60,000 chickens. It was very nasty, very crazy, and very memorable.

Favorite Bible verse?

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." -2 Corinthians 5:17

What about the church helped confirm your call to Connect Church?

Connect is a very loving, generous, and gracious church that has already shown us a great amount of love and grace, but the one thing that rings true about Connect Church is its passion for the making of disciples all over the world. Connect's passion to reach people with the hope of the Gospel inspires and encourages me!
